My boyfriend and I headed up the island a couple of weeks ago, and were struck with unbelieveable amusement at an ad for a new retirement village in Nanaimo. It's actually called Hecate Gardens. I'm sure the developers are clueless to the irony of the name and most likely named it after Hecate Straight near by, but I'm really waiting for Approaching Death Towers to pop up next.

    Omens and Portents

    Wednesday, August 22, 2007, 01:49 PM [General]

My boyfriend and I had the strangest experience last night. We were sitting in our living room and turned to look out our bay window. Sitting in the middle of the road, directly in the centre of our window, staring in was a large calico cat. It sat in the middle of the street and stared into our window for at least half an hour, rarely breaking it's gaze and then disappeared almost instantly. Mind you cats are spry. We thought it was a little odd, but not too disturbing, until a large 4 point stag came and did the same thing about 15 minutes later.  I'm not hugely knowlegeable on omens and portents, but it strikes me that I should pay attention to this. Any ideas? It's been a hugely stressful week, so I wondered if I might not look at it as the goddess (cat -Diana, Isis etc) and god (stag) checking up to make sure we were okay. Just so strange. I'm feeling a bit awestruck.
